During Sudan's April 2023 civil war, RSF and allied militias conducted ethnically targeted mass killings of the Masalit in El Geneina — an estimated 10,000–15,000 dead, 570,000+ refugees in Chad. The US issued a genocide determination in January 2025.

ICC continues Darfur investigations but has not charged genocide for 2023 violence. RSF denies all allegations.
