Marjorie Taylor Greene
US Representative (R-GA)
Tied a California wildfire to a Rothschild-linked space laser.
What happened
A 2018 Facebook post (surfaced in 2021) speculated that a California wildfire was started by a space-based solar beam tied to “Rothschild Inc.” Critics shorthand this as “Jewish space lasers” — her own words named the Rothschilds, a centuries-old control trope, but not “Jewish lasers” verbatim.
Under each definition
Example 2: invoking “Rothschild” financial control is the money-power conspiracy.
Guideline 4 names the Rothschild trope by name as coded antisemitism.
A conspiratorial belief about Jewish financial control; no Israel carve-out applies.
Not about Israel.
Who called it antisemitic
Surfaced by Media Matters; cited by House leadership and Jewish organizations.
The defense
Largely deflection — deleted the posts and said past statements “do not represent me”, while objecting that critics distorted her words.
Outcome
The House voted 230–199 to strip her of committee assignments in February 2021 (restored after Republicans took the House in 2023).
In their words
[Greene’s remarks] present an immediate danger to the U.S. Congress and the American people … her incendiary statements are hate-filled, intolerable and run contrary to her oath of office.
Past comments from and endorsed by Marjorie Taylor Greene on school shootings, political violence, and anti-Semitic conspiracy theories do not represent the values or beliefs of the House Republican Conference.
I actually have no idea because I’ve never said that phrase or typed it, ‘Jewish space lasers.’
The verdicts above are how each framework would most likely treat this case — illustrative guidance, not official rulings. The 3D test applies only to Israel-related cases, so it reads “N/A” elsewhere. See the Definition tab for each framework’s full text. Inclusion is documentation, not a finding.
